Hello, my name is Kara Eytcheson and I am a first-year graduate student in the Social, Personality, and Affective Science program at San Francisco State University. In 2020, I received my BA in Psychology from CSU Channel Islands. My current research interests include implicit biases, stereotypes, and the power of the situation. In my spare time, you can usually catch me at an Oakland A’s game with my husband and our two little boys.

Maddie Striegel

My name is Maddie Striegel and I am currently a second year graduate student in Social, Personality, and Affective Science Psychology. I received my B.A. in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz. My current research interests include expanding our understanding of gender identity specifically focusing on non-binary, genderfluid, and gender variant identities. My goal in research is to challenge our current conceptions of gender in the field of psychology and help broaden our understanding in a responsible and ethical way. Outside of the lab my interests include crochet, going to shows, and spending many hours in sunny parks.

My thesis research focuses on mixed race identity and social factors that promote or inhibit perceivers being able to assert and communicate multiple racial identities.

I’m an undergraduate psychology major in my senior year at SFSU, living on unceded Lisjan (said: lih-SHAWN) Ohlone lands. My pronouns are ze/zir, he/him, and they/them, in rotation, and I’m an Indigenous, Chicane, W. Irish Turtle-Islander who is Two-Spirit and genderfluid. My research interests lie in the experiences of individuals with multiple and intersecting marginalized identities, with emphasis on instances of discrimination and prejudice amongst Two-Spirit/transgender/non-binary Indigenous people. I am also a graduate of the Musician’s Institute film production program in Los Angeles, CA. I believe in the power of research justice, community care, mutual aid, and Indigenous thrivance. I also enjoy fan-fiction, queer tango, cooking, printmaking, and writing poetry.

I graduated with my master's of arts in Social, Personality, and Affective Science in SFSU in 2020. I am now a Ph.D. student at the University of Texas, San Antonio. My research interests are Nonverbal Behaviors and Intersectionality. I like playing volleyball, hiking, and traveling.
